The Survey Tool

This is recently added tool is a beta version. 

One known issue that you should be aware of is that there is no option to select specific colours for graphic representation, therefore a colour related survey or questionnaire will not automatically be correctly graphically represented.

The latest release introduces new features to your portal.

 

Parental Engagement

 

This feature will allow you to create parent specific accounts and link them with their children’s portals.

 

Parents will have their own homepage and will be able to easily switch between their children’s portals and view their work and even comment on their blogs.

 

Publish files to homepage or community as an easy way to share

 

Files can be easily shared by publishing them directly from “My Work” area simply by clicking on the file, then clicking publish. 

The files will then appear on the users homepage or will await moderation from a member of staff in the chosen community.


Blow the whistle!

 

Seen something you don’t like?  Someone trying to bully?  Something inappropriate?

Blow the whistle and alert a nominated member of staff to the content. 

 

Multiple tagging in Gallery and “My Work”

 

Adding tags to items in a community gallery or “My Work” area is even easier - click on the item and add the tag - more tags can be added by clicking on the + next to your last tag.  Easy!

 

Online Documents

 

Use the new online document tool to create and edit text documents - but please note that this does not enable the editing of uploaded files.

 

New help files will be coming in the teacher FAQ's area in the New Year but please feel to share your thoughts and experiences!

Task Manager

Using task manager you can set tasks to be completed by your pupils. These include taking a quiz, writing a document, drawing a picture, forum entries, record video or sound clip or a wiki contribution.

 Pupils will be able to self assess after they have completed a task and teachers can create their own marking scale.

Revised Teacher Theme

The teacher theme now has a Starz Improver look and feel.  You still have access to the 'Administration' button and cogs.  You are now also able to record email video.  To return to the 'Old Style' mail, simply click the cogs.

New admin screen appearance

When you are in administration mode, your screen will change colour to reflect this a black and white theme will be visible.· 

New account type

Along with staff, pupils and parents, you will be able to create governor accounts. A governor account will be similar to an improver pupil account however they will not have access to pupils etc.  Please contact us if you are interested in creating these accounts for further information.

 Oops!  There's a problem for KS1 Starter users who want to save a picture. 

There is no save or cancel buttons showing at the moment! 

Strangely though they do seem to pull through if you open a new tab with another page or website....

The developers are now aware of this and we are expecting a fix shortely!  In the meantime, your KS1 users could be temporarily changed to have the ks2 improver theme which is working fine!  If you would like us to do this for you, please send an email request to elearning@cambridgeshire.gov.uk
